The Kvillinge Splitting Axe is a powerful, well-balanced tool designed for splitting medium to large logs. Its wedge-shaped, weighted head drives deep into wood, while the curved edge reduces bounce and helps turn logs without sticking. Despite its substantial weight, the axe feels controlled and responsive in hand. A slightly curved hickory handle provides excellent balance, strength, and swing control. Hand-forged from high-quality steel at Hults Bruk, this axe is inspired by classic Swedish splitting designs and built to last a lifetime with proper care. The head weighs 4.2 lb and is paired with a 32" handle for optimal reach and leverage. Its main applications are splitting, clearing and chopping.

Product Highlight
Hults Bruk axe heads are forged from customized high-quality steel, with an alloy specifically engineered for this purpose, providing exceptional strength and performance. The steel is produced completely CO₂-neutral and is fully recyclable. Each head is hand-forged using the open-die free forging method. The axe head is then hardened and tempered for long-lasting durability. With a hardness of approximately 54–56 HRC on the Rockwell scale, these axe heads offer superior sharpness and edge retention. The cutting edge is hand-ground and polished to ensure precision and reliability with every swing. As one of the final steps in the forging press, each axe head is proudly stamped with the traditional Hults Bruk mark - a symbol of quality and craftsmanship.

One of my favorite spitting axes, it’s a great companion to a heavy axe or maul. It’s best for medium sized and down
Axe works quite well for splitting rounds. Handle hang left a little to be desired and had to place some round wedges to fill the gaps. When looking top down on bit, one side has a hollow grind while the other side convex, not sure if that’s intentional or not but bothers me it’s not symmetrical. I know it’s hand forged but has thick scale through out the bit, could have used more time on the wire wheel. Overall, I’m glad to have it in my axe arsenal!
Nice axe and nice handle wonder if you make a 4 lb spitting maul head
Haven't used it yet, but it's one heck of an axe. Construction is impeccable.
It’s a BEAST! It even makes elm easy to split. Will balanced and quality through and through.
